When it comes to quest leveling especially solo, both Enhancement and Elemental are best and have good AOE and the self-healing and defenses to pull groups of mobs and take them down. If you can manage it, AOE questing is generally the best way to go, as it will save much time on killing related quests. If you are going to try to level with Restoration specialization, I would stick with group or group dungeon leveling and I will include the best spec for that below as well.
The best Shaman leveling specs are listed below in the following order: Elemental, Enhancement, Restoration
Shaman Leveling Spec – Elemental Specialization – Solo/Questing
Stone Bulwark Totem – Level 15 – Tier 1
To start off with you should know we are going to be mostly group pulling enemies, when possible . With this in mind, let’s see what we have here at tier 1. The reasons we take the Stone Bulwark Totem over Astral Shift is, the fact that The totem lasts for 30 seconds and only has a 1 minute cooldown. Where Astral Shift only last for 6 seconds and has a 2 minute cooldown. We are going to be pulling groups and need the extended protection time and short cooldown.
Earthgrab Totem – Level 30 – Tier 2
This totem is an important part of our survival plan. We are going to be pulling 7 or 8 targets at once sometimes and the danger level we will be subjecting ourselves to will be high. If you want to greatly reduce the amount of times you will die you want this talent.
Totemic Projection – Level 45 – Tier 3
Totemic Projection works well with Earthgrab Totem, allowing you to plop down a Capacitor Totem from a distance to keep mobs grounded down for a longer period of time. Totemic Restoration can sort of do the same type of effect, although, it also has a 3 minute cooldown. Totemic Projection is better for our purposes.
Echo of Elements – Level 60 – Tier 4
The doubling effect this skill offer can really help you take down and/or stay alive long enough to finish a battle and still be living at the end. The auto-triggered nature of this skill makes it an easy choice at this tier. he other 2 skills here don’t seem to be very attractive for our purposes.
Ancestral Guidance – Level 75 – Tier 5
All of the talents at tier 5 are focused on healing yourself and other members of your party. Since we are mostly solo-leveling, We want the one that will be most beneficial to us, rather than other party members. Astral Guidance fits the bill.
Elemental Blast – Level 90 – Tier 6
Yes, technically you are at level cap and aren’t going to be leveling anymore. Elemental Blast is the best talent at this Tier and is also the most popular. They all have their advantages though. Experiment if you want with Unleashed Fury and Primal Elementalist and see which you like for PvP and Dungeons.
